Maxillary skeletal expanders (MSE)

Micro-implant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander

Maxillary Skeletal Expanders

Maxillary Skeletal Expanders (MSE) are a version of the Microimplant Assisted Rapid Palatal Expander (MARPE), and an alternative to extensive surgery.
The palate becomes increasingly locked after completion of growth, so force must be created to overcome the anatomical area of resistance within the palate, in order to obtain the desired results of an MSE.
The device is placed with local anesthetic and is held in place by four temporary implants in the palate.
The MSE improves airway and respiratory function, opens nasal cavities, allows space for the tongue, and relieves crowding issues.
This greatly benefits those with sleep apnea, fatigue, breathing problems and difficulty sleeping.
