Protecting Against Decay and Cavities
Over time, pits, fissures, and grooves develop in our teeth. Even with proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental cleanings, these structural problems can lead to cavities and decay over time.
Experience has taught us that a preventative approach to your oral health will keep you looking better and feeling better over the long term. That’s why we use dental sealants. Sealant are simply painted on the tooth enamel where they harden and bond to teeth.
Sealants are designed to prevent decay. Sealants are safe thin resin layers that are applied to the outside of your teeth. Applying sealant is particularly important after critical teeth such as molars have emerged. Sealants can help prevent cavities during critical years of development.
Reducing the Chance of Decay at a Critical Age
Although sealants are primarily used as a preventative measure for children and teenagers, it’s common for adults to use the treatment to protect critical areas of their mouths as well.
